My little boy is two years old and he is a busy little guy. He wakes up happy and ready to play. One of his favorite things to play with are toy monster trucks, so after breakfast we played with some of his collection for a while. He likes to make them drive and jump over the blankets and pillows on the bed. We make noises as we push them along and he loves to have them jump and flip. He always tells me to make them “jump high” and likes when they crash as well.
After this, we played a learning game the involved sorting colored, plastic bears into cups of corresponding colors. We did this game for the first time yesterday and he picked it up quickly. I like to encourage learning activities and games and enjoy seeing my little boy put together concepts.
Sometimes he would choose bears to sort and sometimes I would ask him to find a certain color from the bucket to put into a cup. The bears are also different sizes and so I can ask him to find a small bear or a large bear. We went outside after this. We let the chickens out of the coop and then played with a ball. My son cannot catch balls yet, but likes for me to throw to him anyway. He is great at kicking though, so we did some kicking back and forth.
It is such a nice day and I really enjoyed playing outside with him while the birds sang and the chickens walked around us. I try to encourage activities that work not just the mind, but also the coordination of physical actions. And, of course, tiring him out helps him take a nice, long nap after lunch. I am always blessed to have time to play with my son.
My other children are older and don’t seek me out to play with them as often, but my son and I have a great time exploring and playing together.
