Program Details

All groups/classes meet for 7 weeks.

  • Session I: January 6-February 17
  • Session II: March 2-April 13

No classes February 24 and April 20. Fees will be adjusted accordingly.

Fees:   $350 per 7-week session

** Full payment is due at the time of registration. In the event your child misses a class, every effort will be made to offer a make-up class.

** Sibling discount available.

Program Leaders
All small group classes/programs are designed by directors of TLTC and licensed therapists. Classes are led by Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Pathologists, Behavioral Optometrists, Psychologists, Educators, Vision Therapists, and other certified staff members. All programs are designed to meet both individual and group needs.

Parent Support Groups
Led by a psychologist or social worker, these support sessions offer parents an opportunity to receive support, share information and gain valuable resources. Call 203-268-8852 for current offerings and fees.

Class Descriptions

The EDGE Learning System - Enhancing Development for Gains in Education
This 45-minute group will enhance your child’s motor, speech, reading, math, social and visual skills to improve grades, performance and self-esteem. All groups are designed by professionals for maximum learning effect.

  • Ages 6-8: Tuesdays, 5:15 - 6:00 pm
  • Ages 9-12: Tuesdays, 6:15 - 7:00 pm

 

Emotions in Motion Groups
Children will benefit from this 45-minute weekly program incorporating creative arts and Yoga principles. A variety of materials will be used to facilitate the connection between sensation and emotional regulation. Emphasis on breath control, rhythm and posture will also improve organizational and sensory integration skills.

  • Ages 3-5: Mondays, 2:45 - 3:30 pm
  • Ages 6-8: Mondays, 4:30 - 5:15 pm or Wednesdays, 6:15 - 7:00 pm
  • Ages 9-12: Wednesdays, 4:45 - 5:30 pm

 

Handwriting Without Tears®
This multi-sensory approach to developing and enhancing handwriting skills appeals to children with all kinds of learning styles - visual, auditory, tactile, and kinesthetic. The unique materials and creative workbooks assist to eliminate problems with letter formation, reversals, legibility, spacing and cursive connections. Weekly 40-minute groups are available for ages 3-12.

  • Ages 3-5: Mondays, 3:30 - 4:15 pm
  • Ages 5-7: Mondays, 5:15 - 6:00 pm or Wednesdays, 4:00 - 4:45
  • Ages 9-12: Wednesdays, 5:30 - 6:15 pm

 

Boost Your Self Image
Low self esteem comes from a poor self image. Building your child's self esteem leads to success and happiness. This group's activities are designed to boost confidence and self-image.

  • Ages 7-10: Thursdays, 5:00 - 6:00 pm

 

The Social EDGE - Social Communications Groups
These 45 minute or hour sessions focus on improving social skills of students through interactive activities in a therapeutic environment. Groups are arranged according to peer age and individual needs. Activities focus on developing play skills, language and communication skills, body language, controlling emotions and social flexibility.

  • Ages 10-13: Wednesdays 5:45-6:45
  • Ages  5-7:     Thursdays 4:30-5:15
  • Ages  4-7:     Fridays 5:00
  • Ages  8-11:   Fridays 6:00
  • Ages 13 and up: By appointment

 

Language Exploration
Explore and enhance your child's language skills with this 45-minute weekly group through theme-based activities and play. Children will have fun and learn while participating with new friends. Caregiver must be present.

  • Ages 2-5: Fridays, 10:15 - 11:00 am

 

Author Study
Students will read stories and study the artwork and literary patterns of one author over the 7-week session. Students will build fluency and comprehension while completing a portfolio craft or activity each week associated with the story.

  • Ages 5-7: Tuesdays, 4:00 - 5:00 (Eric Carle)
  • Ages 8-10: Tuesdays, 5:00 - 6:00 (Kevin Henkes)

 

Creative Writing
Learn how to plan, write, edit and publish a piece of creative writing. Students will bring a rough draft to a detailed, edited and finalized piece of work.

  • Ages 6-8: Saturdays, 900 - 10:00 am
  • Ages 9-11: Saturdays, 10:00 - 11:00 am

 

Expressions in Art
Students will engage in visual, auditory and tactile stimulation creating for works of art. All activities will be taught based on individual need encouraging each student to further develop his or her current ability. Students will have the opportunity to repeat lessons, if needed, to build on foundational skills.

  • Ages 3-5: Fridays, 2:00 - 2:45 pm
  • Ages 6-10: Fridays, 3:00 - 3:45 pm
