After work today I took my one year old daughter to the library. My wife is currently pregnant with our next child so I wanted to give her a couple hours to herself. She loves going to the library, they have many toys, games, and books for her to interact with.
When we first arrived she went straight to the big car track and played with the cars for awhile. She often would pick up a car and then bring it to me to show me. Then after awhile she went and played with the kitchen set and would show me all the different toy foods there were. I would often pretend to eat the toy foods and she thought this was really funny.
I also spent much of this time capturing the moments of her playing taking pictures on my phone of her playing. She’d often look up at me and say “cheese” while I take a picture. She’s such a goofball when it comes to taking pictures. After she finished playing with the kitchen set we went and looked at the books. I would show her some and she’d pick out the ones she was interested in.
We have a little bag the library gave us for books she always enjoys filling the bag up. We then went to a table they have and she colored on some blank pieces of paper with some colored pencils. Coloring is probably one of her favorite things to do and we always enjoy this activity together.
We ended our time at they library by playing with some puzzles and some magnets. About this time some much bigger kids started coming over and she became intimidated and less interested in playing there. We checked out the few picks we’d picked out, said goodbye to the children’s librarian, and headed home. It was one of the most memorable evenings I’ve had playing with my daughter.
